## What an accessible bathroom install can include

Every accessible bathroom is different, so we build the design around the person using it. Here's what commonly forms part of the job.

### Walk-in & Level-Access Showers

Level-access or low-threshold shower conversions that remove trip hazards and make stepping in and out easier.

### Grab Rails & Support Fittings

Securely fixed rails and support points positioned where they're actually needed, not just where they look neat.

### Non-Slip Flooring

Safer, slip-resistant flooring laid and sealed properly around showers, toilets and turning space.

### Accessible Toilets & Basins

Raised or comfort-height toilets and basins positioned to suit wheelchair, walking frame or seated use.

## Bathrooms that work for the person using them, not just the room

An accessible bathroom isn't a standard bathroom with a few extras bolted on. It starts with how someone actually moves, whether that's with a wheelchair, a walking frame, or simply less steadiness on their feet than they used to have. We design around that first, then build the bathroom to fit it, rather than the other way round.

That usually means a proper look at the space and the person's needs before anything is drawn up: door widths, turning room, where grab rails need to go, and whether a kerbless shower or level-access wet room makes more sense than a traditional cubicle. Once the design is agreed, we handle the whole job ourselves, tearing out the old bathroom, levelling and waterproofing the floor, doing the plumbing and any electrics, then tiling and finishing it properly.

> A good accessible bathroom should disappear into daily life, not feel like an adaptation bolted onto it.

We hear the same worries a lot: will it look clinical, will the work take over the house, will it still work in five or ten years if mobility changes further. We design with that last point in mind where we can, and we're careful about dust sheets, daily clean-up and keeping the rest of the house liveable while we're on site.

More information

We do this work across Brighton, Hove, Woodingdean, Lewes, Seaford, Worthing, Haywards Heath, Burgess Hill and other nearby Sussex towns, usually for homeowners planning ahead for a family member, recovering from a change in mobility, or simply wanting a bathroom that's easier and safer to use day to day. As a Gas Safe registered, Vaillant-accredited plumbing and heating company, we can also fold in any heating or hot water changes the room needs as part of the same job.

> Tidy, careful work matters just as much as the design itself, especially in a bathroom someone depends on.

## Before you book

Answers to what people usually ask us before starting an accessible bathroom project.

How do you decide what features we actually need?

We start by looking at how the bathroom is used day to day, the mobility needs involved, and the space available, then design around that rather than working from a standard template.

Do you handle the whole job, including tiling and waterproofing?

Yes. We design and install the full bathroom ourselves, from strip-out and plumbing through to waterproofing, tiling and finishing, so nothing gets missed between trades.

Can you widen doorways or change the layout if space is tight?

In many cases yes, depending on the structure of the property. We'll assess this during the design stage and let you know honestly what's possible.

Will the bathroom still work if mobility needs change later?

Where it's practical, we design with that in mind, for example allowing for future grab rail positions or a layout that could take a seated shower later.

How long does an accessible bathroom installation take?

It depends on the scope of work, but most full accessible bathroom conversions take longer than a standard bathroom refit because of the extra groundwork and waterproofing involved. We'll give you a realistic timeframe once the design is agreed.

Are you qualified to do the plumbing and heating parts of the job?

Yes, we're Gas Safe registered and an accredited Vaillant installer, so any heating or hot water work needed as part of the bathroom is covered by the same team.

Which areas do you cover for this kind of work?

We cover Brighton, Hove, Woodingdean, Lewes, Seaford, Worthing, Haywards Heath, Burgess Hill and other nearby Sussex towns.

Do you keep the rest of the house usable during the work?

We're careful with dust sheets, tidy site practices and daily clean-up, since we know the rest of the home still needs to function while the work is going on.
