It suits homes where more than one space needs its own temperature control: a couple of bedrooms that overheat in summer, a home office and a loft conversion, or a whole downstairs that never quite cools down on a warm day. Each indoor unit is controlled separately, so one room can be cooling while another stays off or set differently. It's also worth knowing that modern air conditioning isn't just for summer. More information ### How we plan a multi-split system Because every indoor unit shares one outdoor unit, the whole system has to be sized and designed together, not room by room. We look at: - The size, glazing and use of each room being served - How many indoor units the outdoor unit needs to support, and its overall capacity - Pipe run lengths and how easily they can be routed and hidden - The existing electrical supply and what, if anything, needs upgrading - How pipework and cabling can be finished neatly, whether that's boxing in, running through lofts, or careful routing outside That's also what drives the cost. There's no set price for a multi-split install because a two-bedroom system with short, simple pipe runs is a very different job to a five-room system with awkward access or a loft conversion involved. We'd rather come out, look properly, and give you a firm quote based on your actual house than throw out a figure that doesn't hold up on the day. A tidy finish matters as much as a working system. Pipework gets covered or routed sensibly, condensate drains properly, and we leave the property as we found it, which is usually what people notice most once the job's done. How is a multi-split system different from fitting separate single units? A multi-split uses one outdoor unit to serve several indoor units, each controlled separately, whereas separate single systems each need their own outdoor unit.
