Gas Pipework Installation
Whether you're adding a new appliance or rerouting a supply as part of a bigger job, we design, fit and pressure test gas pipework so it's safe, compliant and out of sight where it should be. We are Gas Safe registered for domestic gas work, registration 568345, and we take the same care over pipework as we do over every other job.
What's covered under gas pipework
From a single new appliance connection to pipework for a full renovation, here's what this covers in practice.
New Appliance Connections
Sizing and running new pipework to safely supply a boiler, hob, fire or other gas appliance.
Pipework Rerouting
Moving or extending existing gas pipework to suit a kitchen refit, extension or new layout.
Pressure & Tightness Testing
Let-by and tightness testing on new or altered pipework before anything is commissioned.
Commissioning & Testing
Purging, appliance start-up and full commissioning so everything is proven safe before we finish.
Getting gas pipework right, not just fitted
Gas pipework is one of those jobs that has to be exactly right, because there's no room for guesswork when it comes to gas. Whether it's a new supply for a boiler or hob, an extended run for a kitchen extension, or pipework that needs moving to make way for a loft conversion, the pipe size, route and materials all depend on the appliance demand and the length of run involved. Get any of that wrong and it's not just untidy, it's unsafe.
Our approach starts with working out what the pipework actually needs to deliver: which appliances, what gas rate, how far the run needs to travel. From there we plan the route, choose the right pipe diameter and materials, and fit it properly with proper support along the way. Once it's installed, we carry out tightness and let-by testing, purge the system, and commission connected appliances before anything is signed off as finished.
A gas pipe isn't finished until it's been tested, purged and proven safe, not just fitted.
A lot of the calls we get are from people mid-renovation, whether that's a new kitchen, an extension or a loft conversion that needs a boiler moved. Others just need a new appliance connected properly. Either way, the process is the same: assess, size, route, test and commission, so the supply is proven safe before we finish.

Recent work

System conversion to a combi boiler
Another system conversion. The old boiler, cylinder and tanks came out and a new Vaillant combination boiler went in, along with new pipe clips and a new gas run.

Viessmann storage combi boiler installation
We installed a Viessmann 222-F storage combination boiler, controlled by a smart thermostat and protected by a dirt separator. The wider project also included a new gas main, a new bathroom suite and new radiators.

Vaillant boiler and full heating system in Hove
We fitted a Vaillant ecoTEC pro 30 as part of a full property refurbishment in Hove, taking in a new heating system, bathroom, kitchen and utility room. Both the gas and water mains were renewed from the point of entry and everything was fully tested.
“Great service as always from R.K.Plumbing. I've used them three times so far, which says everything really. They were quick to cap our gas supply ready for a new induction hob install. Fair price and timely and clean work. I would recommend them to anyone.”
