Power Flushing
If your radiators are cold at the bottom, slow to warm up, or your boiler's working harder than it should, a power flush could sort it. We clean out the sludge and debris properly, so your heating runs efficiently again, for homes across Brighton, Hove and the surrounding Sussex towns.

What's involved in a power flush
A power flush isn't just one step, it's a proper process to get your whole system clean and working as it should.
System diagnosis
We check your radiators and boiler first to understand where sludge and blockages are causing problems.
Full circulation flush
A specialist pump circulates cleaning solution through the boiler, radiators and pipework to loosen debris.
Radiator-by-radiator clean
Each radiator is flushed individually until the water runs clear, removing sludge, rust and magnetite.
Corrosion inhibitor top-up
Once clean, we add an inhibitor to help protect the system and slow future sludge build-up.
Why radiators go cold and boilers work harder than they should
Over time, wet central heating systems build up sludge, a black iron oxide gunk formed from rust and debris that settles in radiators and pipework. It's the reason some radiators are cold at the bottom while warm at the top, why heating up takes longer than it used to, or why you're hearing banging or gurgling from the pipes. A power flush is the fix: a deep clean of the whole system using a specialist pump and cleaning chemicals, done properly rather than as a quick top-up.
We connect a power flushing unit to your system, circulate the cleaning solution, and work through each radiator until the water runs clear. It's not a quick job, usually five to eight hours depending on the size and condition of your system, and your heating and hot water will be off while we work. Once everything's flushed through, we add a corrosion inhibitor to help protect the system going forward.
A clean system heats faster, runs quieter and puts less strain on your boiler.
It's worth being upfront that a power flush isn't a magic fix for everything. If there's a mechanical fault, a leak, or a failing part somewhere in the system, that needs sorting separately, and we'll always tell you honestly if that's what we're seeing rather than just flushing and hoping.
More information
Who tends to need one
Most people come to us because a radiator's been cold at the bottom for months, or their boiler's started making noises it never used to. Others are having a power flush done as part of a wider job, for instance before we fit a new boiler, since installing a new one onto a sludgy old system just shortens its life. As an accredited Vaillant installer, we know how important a clean system is to keeping a new boiler running well and its warranty intact.
We are based in Woodingdean and cover Brighton, Hove, Worthing, Lewes, Shoreham-by-Sea, Haywards Heath, Seaford, Burgess Hill and surrounding Sussex towns. Whatever the age or type of your system, we'll take a proper look before we start, explain what we find, and only recommend a flush if it's actually going to help.
We'd rather tell you a flush won't fix it than take your money and hope for the best.
If you're dealing with cold radiators, a noisy heating system, or you're planning a new boiler installation, get in touch and we can talk through whether a power flush is the right next step.
