Burst Pipe Repair

A burst pipe needs a fast response and a proper permanent fix, not a quick patch. R.K Plumbing & Heating is a family-run, Woodingdean-based team that shuts off the leak, repairs it properly and leaves your home clean and dry.

What's covered under burst pipe repair

Every burst pipe is different, so the fix depends on the pipe, the damage and how easy it is to reach.

Emergency Shutoff & Leak Containment

Getting the water off fast at the source, including the boiler or water heater if it's affected, to limit damage.

Concealed & Hard-to-Reach Pipe Repairs

Locating and repairing pipes hidden behind walls, under floors or in awkward spots without unnecessary disruption.

Pressure Testing & Reinstatement

Testing the repaired section under pressure and checking for leaks before the water supply goes back to normal.

Water Damage Make-Good

Making good any access openings and helping with drying out where a burst has affected walls, floors or ceilings.

When a pipe bursts, speed and a proper fix matter more than a quick patch

A burst pipe can turn a normal day into a stressful one fast, with water spreading before you've even noticed. R.K Plumbing & Heating deals with this for homeowners across Brighton, Hove and the surrounding Sussex towns, treating it as the emergency it usually is rather than something to slot in whenever there's a gap in the diary.

The first job is always to stop the water and limit the damage. That means shutting off the main supply, and the boiler or water heater if it's connected to the affected pipework, then finding exactly where the pipe has failed, whether that's an easy-access section under a sink or something concealed behind a wall or floor.

Stopping the water fast matters, but so does fixing it properly the first time.

Once the damaged section is isolated, we cut it out and replace it with the right fitting for that pipe and that system, whether that's a soldered joint, compression fitting or push-fit connection. Before anything is closed up or put back into normal use, the repair is pressure tested and checked for leaks, so you're not left wondering if it will hold.

More information

Concerns tend to be similar whatever the pipe or the property: how much disruption there'll be, whether walls or ceilings need opening up, and what happens to any water damage left behind. We talk through what's involved before we start, keep mess to a minimum, and if an access panel or a section of wall needs opening to reach the pipe, we'll put it back properly rather than leave a rough patch.

Tidy work and a clear explanation matter just as much as the repair itself.

We cover Brighton, Hove, Woodingdean, Worthing, Lewes, Shoreham-by-Sea, Haywards Heath, Seaford, Burgess Hill and surrounding Sussex towns, so wherever the burst has happened, someone local can usually get to you. If there's related water damage, we'll flag anything beyond straightforward drying and making good so you know exactly where you stand. Get in touch and we'll talk you through next steps straight away.

Before you call

Quick, honest answers to what people usually ask when they've got a burst pipe on their hands.

How quickly can you get to a burst pipe?
We treat burst pipes as urgent. Give us a call on 01273 911551 and we'll let you know honestly when we can get to you.
What should I do before you arrive?
Turn off the water at the main stopcock and, if it's connected to the affected pipework, switch off the boiler or water heater. Opening a tap can help drain remaining water and ease pressure while you wait.
How do you actually repair a burst pipe?
We locate and isolate the damaged section, remove it, and fit a permanent replacement using the appropriate joint for that pipe and system. The repair is then pressure tested and checked for leaks before the water goes back on properly.
Will you need to cut into my wall or ceiling?
Only if the pipe is concealed and there's no other way to reach it, and we'll always explain this before doing any further work. Where we do need to open something up, we make it good afterwards rather than leaving a rough patch.
Do you deal with water damage afterwards?
We can help with drying out and making good smaller areas affected by a burst. For more extensive damage, we'll be upfront if it's beyond straightforward plumbing work so you know what else might be needed.
Are you qualified for this kind of work?
Yes. We're Gas Safe registered for domestic gas work, registration 568345, and an accredited Vaillant installer. We're also a long-established, family-run local business.
How much does a burst pipe repair cost?
It depends on how accessible the pipe is and how much damage there is, so we'll always assess before quoting. We'll be clear about cost before any work beyond the emergency shutoff goes ahead.
Which areas do you cover for emergency plumbing?
We cover Brighton, Hove, Woodingdean, Worthing, Lewes, Shoreham-by-Sea, Haywards Heath, Seaford, Burgess Hill and surrounding Sussex towns.
