What pipework repair covers

Pipe problems show up in different ways, and the right fix depends on where the pipe is and how bad the damage is. Here's the sort of work we handle.

Leak Detection & Isolation

Tracing the source of a leak and isolating the affected section before any work begins.

Pipe Section Replacement

Cutting out a damaged or corroded length of pipe and fitting a sound replacement.

Joint & Fitting Repairs

Fixing leaking or failed joints, fittings and connections without disturbing the whole run.

Pressure Testing

Checking a repaired pipe holds pressure and flows properly before it goes back into use.

Getting a leak fixed properly, not just papered over

A damaged pipe rarely announces itself politely. It's a damp patch on the ceiling, a drop in water pressure, a puddle under the sink, or a hiss behind a wall that shouldn't be there. Whatever the sign, pipework repair is about finding the actual cause and putting it right, rather than covering the symptom and hoping it holds.

We start by locating the fault and isolating that part of the system so the rest of your water or heating supply isn't affected while we work. From there, the repair depends on what we're dealing with: sometimes it's a straightforward cut-and-replace of the damaged section, sometimes a joint or fitting needs redoing, and occasionally a pipe is corroded enough along its length that a longer replacement run makes more sense than patching it repeatedly.

A repair is only worth doing if it's still holding up in five years, not five months.

Access is often the deciding factor in how a job goes. Pipes hidden behind walls, under floors or beneath a bath panel sometimes need an opening made to get to them properly, and we'll always talk you through what that involves before we start, including any making good afterwards. Once the repair's in, we pressure-test or check the flow to confirm it's sound before we call the job done.

More information

People usually call us either because a leak has already caused visible damage, or because they've spotted a slow drip and want it dealt with before it gets worse. Both are valid reasons to get someone out. Left alone, even a small leak can lead to damp, damaged plaster or flooring, or wasted water, so it's usually cheaper and less disruptive to sort it early.

We are based in Woodingdean and cover Brighton, Hove, Worthing, Lewes, Shoreham-by-Sea, Haywards Heath, Seaford, Burgess Hill and surrounding Sussex towns, so we're used to the mix of housing stock in this part of Sussex, from Victorian terraces with older pipework to newer builds. We are a long established, family run business focused on domestic work, Gas Safe registered for domestic gas work under registration 568345, and we keep our work tidy and explain what we're doing and why, so you're not left guessing.

If you've got a leak, a damp patch you can't explain, or pipework that's clearly on its last legs, get in touch and we'll take a look.

Before you call

Here's what people usually want to know before booking a pipework repair.

How quickly can you come out to a leak?
We aim to respond promptly to active leaks, especially where water is causing ongoing damage. Get in touch and let us know the situation so we can prioritise accordingly.
Will you need to cut into walls or floors?
Only if the damaged pipe isn't accessible another way. We'll always explain what access is needed before starting and keep any opening up as minimal as possible.
Is every leak repairable, or will I need new pipework?
It depends on the extent of the damage. A single fault is usually a straightforward repair, but if the pipe is corroded throughout, a longer section or full replacement often gives a better long-term result.
How do you check the repair has worked?
Once the repair is in place, we pressure-test or check the flow to make sure the pipe is watertight and working properly before we finish up.
Do you cover my area?
We are based in Woodingdean and cover Brighton, Hove, Worthing, Lewes, Shoreham-by-Sea, Haywards Heath, Seaford, Burgess Hill and surrounding Sussex towns.
Are you qualified to work on gas pipework too?
Yes. We are Gas Safe registered for domestic gas work, registration 568345, so if the issue involves a gas pipe rather than water, we can handle that safely as well.
What if the leak is coming from behind a bathroom wall?
We'll trace it back as best we can with minimal disruption, and if it turns out to be part of a wider bathroom issue, we're also set up to handle any bathroom refit work that follows.
Do you charge for a call-out to assess the problem?
Get in touch with details of the issue and we'll talk you through pricing before any work is arranged, so there are no surprises.
