When something's gone wrong with your air conditioning
Most people don't call about air conditioning until it's actually causing a problem. The room won't cool down, the unit is dripping water onto the floor, there's ice forming on the outdoor pipework, it's rattling when it starts, or the remote is showing a code that means nothing to you. This page is about fixing that fault, not the planned annual check-up (that's a different visit altogether).
We start by talking through what's happening and when it started, then inspect the system properly: filters, airflow, drainage, electrical connections, controls and pipework. That's what tells us whether it's a simple fix or something bigger. Once we know what's wrong, we explain it in plain terms before doing any work, then repair or replace what's needed and test the system properly before we leave.
A quick top-up isn't a repair. It's a way of paying for the same call-out again next summer.
One thing we won't do is offer a quick recharge if refrigerant is low. Refrigerant doesn't just disappear, if a system has lost it, there's a leak somewhere, and simply adding more without finding and fixing that leak just means you're back to square one in a few months. The right approach is leak detection and repair first, then a proper recharge, so the fix actually holds.

What the diagnosis actually looks like
Different symptoms point to different causes, and it genuinely matters to check rather than assume:
- Not cooling or only blowing warm air: could be anything from a dirty filter restricting airflow to a refrigerant leak.
- Water dripping indoors: often a blocked condensate drain or a dirty unit, sometimes restricted airflow.
- Ice on the pipework: usually low airflow or low refrigerant, both need proper investigation.
- Rattling or a smell on startup: can be loose parts, dirt build-up, or an electrical issue that shouldn't be ignored.
- An error code on the remote: tells us where to start looking, not what the fix is.
