Commercial Air Conditioning Maintenance

If your shop, salon or office relies on air conditioning to keep customers and staff comfortable, a planned maintenance visit is far cheaper than a breakdown in August. R.K handle the whole job as your contractor, with the refrigerant work carried out by suitably qualified refrigerant engineers who work to us.

What a maintenance visit covers

Every visit is built around keeping your system running efficiently between now and the next one, not just ticking a box.

Filter and coil cleaning

Indoor and outdoor units are inspected and cleaned so the system isn't working harder than it needs to.

Drainage and airflow checks

Condensate drainage and airflow paths are checked to catch the small issues before they become leaks or breakdowns.

Controls and thermostat testing

Controls, thermostats and settings are tested to make sure the system is responding properly, not just running.

Early fault reporting

Signs of wear or developing refrigerant issues are flagged early, with any refrigerant work carried out by suitably qualified refrigerant engineers who work to us.

Why small commercial systems need more than an occasional check

A split system in a salon, café or office runs for far more hours a day than the one in a house, usually in a dustier, greasier or busier environment. Waiting for it to fail is a false economy: a unit that dies mid-shift on a hot day doesn't just stop cooling, it sends customers back out the door. Planned maintenance is about catching the small things, a dirty filter, a slow drain, a control that's drifted out of calibration, before they turn into a closed sign.

A system that's maintained is a system that doesn't fail on the one day you can least afford it to.

A typical visit covers the indoor and outdoor units: cleaning filters and coils, checking condensate drainage isn't backing up, testing controls and thermostats, and looking over the system for early signs of wear. We're the contractor throughout, so you're not chasing two companies when something needs attention. The refrigerant side of any AC work is handled by suitably qualified refrigerant engineers who work to us, which is standard practice in this trade, the same way a main contractor brings in a certified electrician for the wiring.

More information

We work with the kind of premises most small business owners actually run: shops, hairdressers and barbers, treatment rooms, small offices, cafes and studios. This is light-commercial equipment, single splits and ductless systems, not large central plant or industrial chillers, so the maintenance is proportionate to what's actually installed.

One phone call, one company, and someone who actually picks up.

What commercial customers tend to want most is straightforward: a visit that can be booked around trading hours rather than during them, a sense of what to expect year to year rather than a surprise bill, and a contractor who answers the phone when something's not right. We can't put a fixed number on any of that until we've seen your system, room count and how it's used, but the idea behind planned maintenance is exactly that: fewer surprises, not zero cost.

We cover Brighton, Hove, Worthing, Lewes, Shoreham-by-Sea, Haywards Heath, Seaford, Burgess Hill and the surrounding Sussex area, working from our base in Woodingdean. If you run a small commercial premises anywhere in that patch and want to talk about keeping your air conditioning reliable through the year rather than reacting when it fails, get in touch and we'll take it from there.

Before you book

Answers to what small business owners usually want to know before arranging maintenance.

What does a maintenance visit actually include?
We inspect and clean the indoor and outdoor units, check filters and coils, test condensate drainage, and check controls and thermostats are working properly. Any signs of wear or developing refrigerant issues are flagged and reported.
Can you book visits outside our trading hours?
We understand that a shop, salon or office can't always have engineers around during opening hours, so we'll work with you to find a time that suits your business. Exact scheduling is agreed once we know your premises and system.
How much does commercial AC maintenance cost?
It depends on the system, the number of units, and how the premises is used, so we quote after a proper look rather than guessing over the phone. The aim of a planned visit is a more predictable annual cost rather than an unexpected repair bill.
Do you cover large plant or chiller systems?
No, our commercial work is focused on small premises: single splits, ductless systems and other light-commercial equipment used in shops, salons, offices and similar spaces. Large central plant and industrial chillers aren't something we cover.
Who actually does the refrigerant work?
R.K is the contractor on every job and manages the whole visit, but the refrigerant side is carried out by suitably qualified refrigerant engineers who work to us. It's the same principle as a builder bringing in a certified electrician, one point of contact for you either way.
What happens if you find a fault during a visit?
We'll tell you what we've found and what it means before doing anything further, so there are no surprises on the invoice. If refrigerant work is needed, that's carried out by suitably qualified refrigerant engineers who work to us, as part of the same job.
Do you offer regas or recharge if the system loses refrigerant?
No, if a system is low on refrigerant that means there's a leak somewhere, and we focus on finding and fixing that rather than simply topping it up. It's a more permanent fix than repeatedly recharging a system that keeps losing gas.
Which areas do you cover for commercial maintenance?
We're based in Woodingdean and cover Brighton, Hove, Worthing, Lewes, Shoreham-by-Sea, Haywards Heath, Seaford, Burgess Hill and the wider Sussex area for small commercial premises.
