Air Conditioning Servicing
An annual service keeps your air conditioning running efficiently, protects your manufacturer warranty and catches small problems before they become expensive ones. R.K Plumbing & Heating carry out thorough, scheduled servicing for homes and small commercial premises across Brighton, Hove and the surrounding Sussex towns.

What's covered in a service visit
Whether it's a single split system in a garden office or a multi-split covering a whole house, the same thorough checks apply.
Filter and Coil Cleaning
Removing dust and buildup that restricts airflow and forces the system to work harder for less cooling.
Condensate Drain Check
Making sure the condensate drain is clear and draining properly to prevent leaks and water damage.
Electrical and Controls Inspection
Checking connections, controls and settings so the system responds correctly and runs safely.
Performance and Leak Check
Verifying operating pressures and temperatures and looking for any early signs of a refrigerant leak.
Why servicing matters more than most people realise
Most manufacturer warranties on air-conditioning systems require an annual service to stay valid. It's one of those details that's easy to miss when a system is fitted and running well, and then costly to discover later if something goes wrong and the warranty is void because there's no service record. It's the first thing we'd flag to anyone with a system, new or old.
A missed service can quietly void the very warranty you're relying on.
Beyond the warranty, servicing is really about keeping the system working properly. A dirty filter or a clogged coil makes the unit work harder to produce the same amount of cooling (or heating, since most modern systems do both). That means higher running costs and more wear on components that are expensive to replace. A service visit catches this early, before it turns into reduced performance or a breakdown.
Our engineers work through the same checks every time: filters and coils cleaned, the condensate drain checked so it isn't blocking or leaking, electrical connections and controls inspected, and operating pressures and temperatures verified against what the system should be producing. We also check for any early signs of a refrigerant leak. A sealed system shouldn't lose refrigerant, so if levels are down, that's a leak to find and repair properly, not something to simply top up.

What a service does not do
It's worth being clear that a service is preventative, not a fix. If a system has already stopped cooling properly, is making unusual noises, or is showing a fault code, that's a repair job rather than a servicing one, and we'd want to know before the visit so the right engineer and time is booked.
R.K are the contractor on every air-conditioning job, whether it's a service, repair or new installation. You deal with us and only us: one company, one number, one point of contact. The refrigerant-specific work within a service is carried out by suitably qualified refrigerant engineers who work to us, in exactly the same way a builder brings in a certified electrician for part of a job. It's standard practice and it means the whole visit, from access and siting through to the technical checks, is managed properly from start to finish.
